Where to get a Rem Mod 700 barreled action?
Thinking of a new rifle project... don't wany to buy an entire rifle only to discard 60% of the parts.
Heck, I'd consider non-Remington barreled actions if anyone can suggest one that's good. (I wouldn't say "price is no object," but I don't mind ponying up if I know where my money goes.) |

Brownell's sells Ruger barreled actions, and does, or did sell Remington actions.

Brownells
They sell the short action rem. model 700 for $400. I wouldn't shy from buying a complete rifle seeing as how you can sell off the barrel and stock and get back some cash for them.

re-action
Dear Sir:
The Howa action is as good as any and takes the same weaver bases as the 700 rem! I've used two of their barreled actions (simply unscrew barrel if you mount new one) to build sniper rifles for F.B.I. sniper (retired?) They work out extremely well and I consider them as premium actions; I think Howa still makes the Weatherby Vanguard action which is tops. I don't remember the thread size but they are long enough for about any project! |

Remington used to sell Model 700 barrelled actions for quite a reasonable price; you might call them.

700 action
Dont know if you are interested, but I have a 721 for sale.
http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthr.../page/0#421586 These are generally considered of a higher quality than the newer 700 actions as the machining and tolerences are usually better. Almost all of the 700 action parts are interchangeable and you can sell the rest of the parts to recoup some of your money. Good luck, Weagle |

If you have an academy near you you might check there. They are selling Rem 700 ADLs for 338.00 plus tax.
