My area is eastern MN/West Wi. What ive seen is highly limited availability as of the past 2ish weeks. 9mm is hard to find in the big stores but the LGS has it with a 2 box limit, same with all handgun ammo. I got a ton of .40, some of which was even on sale but one box of Remington UMC i got was at least 7 years old based on the packaging and i had 9 failure to fires out of 50. 6.5 Creedmoor has been out of stock most places, found a secret stash online. 223/5.56 same thing as 9mm at the LGS. 22LR has fallen off the face of my planet, although its not on the top of my list of things to keep well stocked, its nowhere to be found.

Fleet Farm in southeast MN still has Stingers.

I traded some .40 cal plated pistol bullets for 2,200 rounds of Remington 'Golden Bullets'. Definitely not my favorite .22 ammo, but it's something to shoot without reducing my stock of other ammo.

I just got one of those "notify me when this item becomes available" about one of my favorite Aguila .22 ammo.

The emotional nonsense is starting to wind down. Things will return to normal. In some places sooner than in other places.

Happily in Arizona...

First time in three weeks I found 9mm... The Gander right by my work got one box of whitebox JHP in their weekly shipment today. They got a 116 boxes of 5.56, but the guy checking out in front of me had bought it all.

And today they have .308 at my local ammo store for the first time since all this nonsense started. Both that and the 22LR I found were reasonably priced. Lots of .40 and .380. No 357Mag. Little bit of 38 hollowpoints, not much ball. 12G 00 buck is available but it's still a little expensive.

Granted this was a couple of weeks ago, but I was at Sportsmans Warehouse in Alb. NM and they received 100 cases of .223 the night before. It was gone after the first hour or two of being open. I'm assuming that's 100,000 rounds of .223. My wife has seen cb caps at wally world, but 9mm is still a ghost.

Whoa, that's pretty rude of him. What kind of price was it?

I found Federal 525 packs for $22 today.

I asked if he had grabbed the 7.62 and he said no they didn't get any, I wasn't really interested in 5.56 so it really didn't bother me. They were 8.99 for 20. Independence brand.

Just stopped by Walmart in Clovis, NM as I was passing through town.
I got there as they were stocking. 4 ppl ahead of me, they sold all 10 boxes of 22lr but I was able to get 300rds of Winchester 9mm and left plenty for the ppl behind me.

They got in at least one/two cases of
9mm
380
40
45
223
308
30-06

No drastic prices, I paid $24.47/100

As others have stated and I have said, we are our own worst enemies. When I read these accounts of people placing buying everything in sight even though it is more than they would ever shoot in the next several years. All this does is empty the shelves, leave nothing for others and drive up the prices.
Personally, I have nearly 5000 rounds of 22LR and a few thousand rounds of various (9mm, 38spl, .357mag, .223/5.56 and 20ga) other calibers. Based on my average usage that is enough to keep me shooting for well over a year. I bought my ammo gradually, when on sale and I to keep buying just enough to keep ahead of what I shoot.
While I get why AR-15, AK-47 and high capacity magazines are being bought out, I just don't understand this panic hoarding of ammo, especially the 22LR. There are no serious efforts to do anything about ammunition. Sure I have heard all the crazy stuff about micro stamping or huge taxes but nothing that has any serious chance of happening.

Well, we aren't our own worst enemies; its the other people who tend to buy up every box of ammo that gets restocked and does not leave any for the rest of those who still need to buy ammo. Like that guy that bought all 116 boxes of 5.56/223 ammo and didn't care to leave any for others who might need it.

Yup, cant stand those people. Guy behind the counter at Walmart said as soon as they get ammo shipments the same 3 guys have been buying it all up. Probably a group of those damn doomsday preppers who think the world is going to end. Gotta make sure you have a 10 year surplus of food and ammo.

Everyone had the same chance to stock up when it's available. Time may be short so I don't blame anyone for grabbing whatever they can. People said Obama would never be elected either but it happened.

Fortunately for me ammo continues to be available. As of Thursday:

Federal Bulk Packs - $22
38 Special - $18/50
45 ACP $20/50
223 $8/20

and a few other assorted calibers and a small amount of small and large rifle primers. No pistol of any kind. Ammo goes pretty fast but at least it's been on the shelves when I go in.

Don't know If it is fact or not, but a LGS told me the 22 rimfire hording was mostly doomsday preppers. Lots of ammo can be stored in a small space.
I think that may be be part of the reason, but also many casual shooters own only 22 rimfire guns, so they are stocking up as well.
Doomsday prepper, or twice a year plinker the bottom line is a fear and distrust of the current administration.

I was at Gander Mountain yesterday and the employees strongly hinted that I should be there at open this morning if I wanted ammo. I arrived 45 minutes after opening to find they had wheeled out three stainless steel shelving units full of ammo...I was so happy! They had a 10-box limit total, 2 of which could be bulk buys. I was able to buy 2 350 round boxes of 9mm Blazer Brass and 8 50 round boxes of the same for a total of 1,100 rounds of 9mm. I bought a Glock 17 in December and haven't had a chance to fire it yet because all the stores in my area have been sold out or way, way overpriced.

The Blazer Brass was selling for $14.99 / 50 or $99.99 / 350, which works out to around $0.29 per round, on average. This being my first time buying 9mm, it seemed a reasonable price.

Considering most local gun shops in my area have been selling 50 rounds of low-end 9mm for $25+, Gander Mountain selling at or near MSRP made me a lot more inclined to give them my future business, especially when the craziness dies down...

I should have taken a picture...they had stacks and stacks of the 350 round bulk boxes of 9mm, and that was after 45 minutes of steady buying.

The one caliber that was completely sold out when I got there...22LR. They must have had a lot, as there were stacks of opened, empty retail display boxes for the 22LR. Strange days.

Well 29 cents a round is not too bad these days. I bought some Blazer Brass 9mm here at Farm and Home before the panic at $12.99 per box but those deals seem to be gone.

They shoot fine, maybe a little dirty, and the brass reloads nice.

I stopped by my local Walmart to find 3 boxes of 100rd Winchester WB in 45acp. I about fell over and whistled for a clerk to open the glass to purchase all three. You can only buy 3 boxes at a time and it doesnt matter the round count per box. 9mm are a white elephant.

I was out look for some .357 magnum and .38 special this morning. I got to gander mountain just as they were opening and there were about 200-300 people lined up outside the store as they opened the doors. I wasn't sure what they were doing but later found out they had just recieved a shippment of ammo last night. I refuse to wait in line so I just left. they did have limited quantity of .357 and .38 special on the self but they wanted $25-$35 for a box of just 25 rounds. I left those at the store as well. I then went to my local walmart to see if they by chance might have what I was looking for. They had one 50 round box of .38 special +P for $26 so I got one box today.

I had heard that Sportsmans Warehouse gets their ammo shipments Thursdays, and they put them on the floor Friday morning. So I went by there today with the hopes of picking up some ammo. I showed up about 15 minutes after opening, and the first thing I saw was a line heading out from the Customer Service counter, winding about half way through the store. I looked behind the counter, and like bricks of gold, I saw hundreds of boxes of all the ammo I haven't been able to find lately. Hoping to pick some up, I head to the end of the line.

Just then, I hear a conversation between two people in line. The first guy asked another person what number they were. The person was confused. The first guy said that to get ammo, you had to be at the store at 7am (2 hours before opening) to get a number, and they limited it to 70. Ammo goes to these 70 before anyone else. Whatever is left over gets sold on a first come, first serve basis. As much as I wanted to buy some American Eagle 9mm for $14.95, and some .22LR, I had a feeling, I just wasn't going to get lucky today. Now that I know how it works, I might have to try again next week...
