Yeah, she is a cute gal...

Note to Rich and Danny....
1) Have more pics of blondes with guns on the cover or in the magazine.
2) Call me so I can stand beside them in the pics!!!

Cover Credits:
Design: Shannon Lew
Photography: Bobby Ejercito and Chic Mathews
Subjects: Shannon and Laura Lew (She is a knockout)
I take credit for comissioning the cover.
Credit for the content goes to the writers, Denny, Dennis, Kathy and others.

The cover started with the announcement of a new Cabinet Post for "Homeland Security". The term struck me as Reich-ian and really got under my skin. Calls went out to Clint Smith to give us an article on Team Tactics for families and to Shannon for the cover...

Denny Hansen gets credit for tempering my initial Cover Headline "Homeland Security....S.W.A.T. Style".

If you think the cover is good, wait 'till you read the article by Clint. Credit to Heidi Smith, another knockout, for allowing herself to be photographed in the passion pink bathrobe! For Christmas, I think we'll have to send her a set of Bunny Slippers with the Swat logo!

Maybe if you give Larry Corriea a heads-up, he can design some "Molon Labe" bed clothes. Just the ticket for receiving late night home invaders.

Can I get a set of PJs with the SWAT logo in black so I will be tactical? Kirk Freeman--the Dreaded Demon of Slumber!!!

Which machine pistol goes best with tactical PJs?

Yeah, tactical bathrobes would be all the rage. Maybe some quick attach points where the same belt that ties the bathrobe shut can be used as an improvised tactical sling?

We're pretty pleased with the way the December issue came out. Thanks to Rich for going full collor through the entire magazine. S.W.A.T. is definitely raising the bar with the competition.

We have promised to improve and we will continue to do so. February is in the final stages of being laid out with a new easier to read design, Harry Humphries will debut his new column, Ted Nugent speaks out in an interview he gave to us, we explore the facts and fallacies of weapons of mass destruction and much more.

In short, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Denny

You should be. I discern a lot of hard work.

Trapdoor Springfields
Colt's Detective Special
Bushmaster Urban Sniper Rifle ("Urban"? ... uh, okay, whatever.)
Para Ordnance LDA .45
Mossberg Mdl 500 20 ga.
Fobus holsters
A guide to buying used firearms
AND plenty of "tactical" articles for the

It would be hard to beat the mix you guys have come up with. My compliments.

I'm eagerly awaiting mine. I thought the last issue was great.

And Rich, if you need a bathrobe with MOLON LABE on it just let me know. That only applies to Rich ladies and gentlemen, I will not be adding Tactical Sleepware to the catalog anytime soon, as practical as it may be. (Though I have on special order made TFL baby clothes, no kidding I really have!)

No tactical sleepware? Oh, fine. I'll just dye my underwear black and sew on the SWAT logo. Rich, I'll send in my picture with a SW 76 (I think that MP goes best with PJs) soon as I get a scanner.

I was hoping to get a pair of black PJs with the built-in feet with the special kevlar, non-slip soles that I can use to climb walls.

"Molon Labe" bed clothes

Now that is a statement that is appropriate in several contexts!

Another great issue, worth every penny. How about 12 times a year!

I appreciated the cover very much, and it was the first book in my new subscription. Making a magazine at all is hard work, making it look that good is above and beyond while maintaining professional content. I don't mean this lightly, but consider this. A friend and I were in discussion on Sky Marshals. They must be more than a man with a gun. The depth of professionalism must be appreciated. They should have a knowledge of explosives, be versed in emergency medical skills, and be able to consider a complex situation and make it simple. Where can you find such a depth of professionalism in the magazine business but at SWAT?
You cannot call a man with a degree in Journalism and give him a SWAT assignment. I have learned more from SWAT than in most of my police training, and I have a degree in Criminal Justice, executive school, etc.
When someone mentions how could the average person identify with SWAT, why, we all like to learn about things we never use. Some things have merit all above the practical. We can support the men and women who do these things. We all have a speciality. Frankly, most of the time I was the man with the gun in the PD, doing every job. It is good to learn from someone who served in a large agency and worked his speciality inside and out for 20 years.

Well, back to the cover--

Good models are hard to find and must be appreciated.

It hits a spot in heart to see the writer use family in the shots, as I do so myself. My daughter has been a hostage at age three and my son, now in JROTC and a fine young man has been plastered with fake tattos to play a gang member.
I recognized Roy Huntington, once editor of Police Magazine, in Mr. Smith's story. Great!

If anyone needs a model that old guy in my stories has a face that looks like a rock quarry that has been dynamited. He is pretty cheap, too. I am 19 and play football.

Can someone post a picture of that cover?

I just found out that someone else has been receiving my susbcription so I haven't seen any SWAT issues since the first one I got (Oct Issue).

Got it. Great issue Sirs!

I do believe I'm going to have to get myself an I.O.R. Valdada for my FAL now though.
