Removable, see through mounds for an AR

I have a question concerning mounting a scope on my ar. I have a standard Colt upper with the single hole through the "handle". I have found a removable mount with rings that is fastened through the one handle hole that allows the peep sight to still be used. It costs about $50. Is this worth buying? I was looking for greater percision and accuracy down range. I am currently upgrading my front sight blade also. Should I also upgrade the back peep hole?My current back sight allows 1" per click at 100yards. Would it be worth buying one that allows 1/4" adjustments?
I guess what I am trying to ask is, for all practical situations would it be best to buy the scope mount and a scope for more accurate situations(shooting coyotes or ground hogs)and keep the tough more innaccurate sights for plinking. Or maybe I should make the double upgrade to make it all around more accurate. What would you do?
