Beginners question?
I have been away from shotgunning since the early 70's.
This summer I bought a 12 Ga Pump to modify (very simply) for HD use and a sweet 20 ga SxS double for fun. I wonder is it OK to use the little 20 ga out on the Skeet range> Nothing serious, I just wnt to get some various range and speed shooting in, Would I get laughed pff the range if I showed up with the little Uplander? Don't want to embarass myself! Thanks for any answers. BPDave |

Now, really.
Who is going to laugh at you while you're holding a gun? I embarrass myself every time I go to the skeet range. It doesn't prevent me from having fun in the least. As long as you're safe to be around, your side by side 20 is fine. One of the regulars often shows up with his kid's 410 pump and outscores 'most everyone. Go and enjoy.

I'm not sure of any shooters who would laugh you off the range. Well...maybe if you painted it with truck bedliner and added a red dot, flashlight, laser, and swiss army knife...but if you shot really well there might be a few more weapons decked out the same next time you went.

If you showed up with the 20 and wanted to shoot a NSSA registered competition, you might raise a few eyebrows, otherwise, no one should care as long as you are safe

Thanls for the answers!
I just wanted to go out and shoot my "New" shotgun at various ranges and try to recoop some of my old skills. I am not out to set range records or to try and outshoot anyone. My club has a really nice range and being a Member, I get a good discount on fees and pigeons. Like I said, I am not familliar with all of what is considered "cool" or not to do. at the range. I am partially disabled and can't feild hunt anymore (too much walking) Thanks for the help! BPDave |

I never seen anybody laughed at when shooting a 20 ga, but i don't pay much attention to others when i am on the range. My guess is, everybody will be so preoccupied with what they are doing(or corrections they need to make) than to be paying attention to you.
