old Pistols

I have two old 22 cal. Pistols and can not find anything out about them. One is an H&R 9 shot double action 22 Model # 922 and serial number L73025 and the other one is an EIG model# EIG EI serial # 548728 and it is a 6 shoot pistol and is double action, and it was made in Germany. I was just wanting to know something about them.

The H&R is a solid revolver, though prone to timing problems and amateur gunsmithing. If fully functional, it is a good plinker. The early ones have some collector interest if in new or near new condition, with value running about $250. The post-war model is common and value is only about $100 even in perfect condition. These are retail prices, of course, not what you could get from a dealer.

The other gun sounds like one of the hundreds of thousands of "Saturday night specials" imported prior to 1968. There are a few exceptions, but most are not high quality (read "junk") with values in the $50 range if that. If the gun functions and is reasonably accurate, it might be a plinker, but don't count on it working for any period of time. It won't "blow up", but it will break or wear after a relatively few shots.

Generally german gun producers gave their guns modelnumbers or brandnames.
However EIG makes me wondering, could it be ELG, and thereby denoting belgian (Liege) production.
ELG stands for Epreuve Liege (Liege proofhouse)

Another 2 cents

Saul Eig was a Florida importer of inexpensive guns. The gun was probably made by Rohm (RG).
