Barrel wall thickness has always seemed thinner to me than the Remington marked barrels, which would make them weigh a little less overall. Of the several I've seen in use over the years, there was one that had the barrel ring come off for whatever reason, I don't know why. That's the only problem I've seen with them so far.

Why bother; Remington will sell you any Remington barrel you want.

I have one of those Mossberg 870 18inch barrels. The extractor slot was roughly cut, and it had a burr/folded over metal that I had to gently dremel off. I didnt like that.

A mossberg fully rifled slug barrel worked great on a 870, cheaper than Rem at the time. Remington did have better iron sights.
