West Coast Bullet having sale
I just bought my usual 1000 West Coast Bullets 158 gr. .38 cal copper plated RN. Usually I pay $53 with shipping included, but they are selling for $35 /1000 and then--for me--$9 shipping. They are trying to encourage group purchases and I guess this is a price preview to get us thinking.
I have no financial stake in WCB, but have had excellent service from them, great performance from their bullets and know you all are as happy as I to save some cash, so am glad to pass on the word. |

Mr. Meredith,
Is this a mail order proposition?
If so, could you post the address? I rather like WC's plated bullets in several incarnations.

No, not mail order. Just give them a call and check on the dates of the sale and particulars. I stumbled on it when I last ordered.

I stumbled on it too. I was going to order 1000, but went for 2000 with those prices. They're trying to get people to order over 200 pounds at a time. Shipping for 2000 rounds of 9mm was 24 bucks, while shipping for 11000 was 72. Cuts shipping in half.

I got my order in about 5 minutes after posting my last post. Just wanted you all to know that everything came exactly as described. I'll add that I am new to reloading, and not only did they send me a catalog and some free bullet samples (I told them I was interested in 9mm, .40, .45 and .357; they sent me 20 of each without even asking), but Red answered was happy to answer all my questions regarding bullets and shipping very patiently. Now, if my Dillon 650 comes in today, I'll be ready to go!

Have dealt with West Coast for a number of years. Good people, good bullets, and good prices, especially when on sale. Usually order in bulk to save on the shipping.

Do you just use data for FMJ of the same weight?

Gary,
Since I typically load light to moderate target loads, that's what I do. Some folks say they use the same loads for lead. All I can say is using the same as jacketed works for me!

Gary
I too use West Coast Bullets and have had very good luck with there bullets and the sales team, well Red.
Gary as to your Question about load data. WC Bullets are plated with about .010 of copper plated bullets are about .014 so you can load them more to FMJ data. Most plated bullets only have .003 to .006 of plating these I would use lead loading data. Anyone in the Vancouver, Wa area, want to go in on an order? I usually order 2500 rounds at a time but could save some big bucks with a large order. and spliting the shipping cost. Tony

According to Hodgdon's, with copper plated bullets treat them like lead. Use lead data.
But I've also heard to add 1 or 2/10ths of a grain onto the lead data. And many people just use the starting load data for FMJ. It can be developed by just picking the most accurate charge within the specs.

I believe they are in the process of moving. The phones shouldn't be down long. I got a box of requested samples, but haven't even opened them yet.
