It should be in 9mm, that is where the market is. There are a lot of people buying Shields and PPSes because Glock doesn't make a similar offering. I've heard the PPS referred to as "The single stack 9mm Glock won't make" many times.

The way I see it, there is something wrong with all of the current offerings.

XDs: LCI, Grip safety
Shield: Manual safety
PPS: Backstrap safety
Kahr: Overall issues with break-in/reliability, long trigger
LC9: All of the above...
etc.

The Glock likely won't have erroneous safety features, and will be a Glock, so I predict it would be very successful. For me though, it still has the problem all Glocks have: no way to control the firing mechanism when holstering. This is why I carry a PPS.

It's just a long-slide version of the Glock 21. Same frame with a 'tactical' size slide. I'm pretty interested in that. Lone Wolf has been making them(quite successfully) for some time now.

Can you explain how you "control the firing mechanism" with the PPS? How is it different than a Glock?

Glock is like Apple, they know they can introduce a rock at any price point and it'll sell.

I can hear it now...

"This thing fits my hand perfectly, it practically throws itself. 42 grams gives me the perfect balance between heft and speed. Sure I had to wait a while but it's a small price to pay for perfection."

If it's a CM9 sized 45 in the 400 range I'd be interested. If it's a little smaller than the XDs without a grip safety I'd be interested. If it was small as a shield and offered in 357sig I'd have to think about it.

If it's a 380...well it better lay golden eggs, because I don't see how it could replace my LCP.

Seems like a poor use of production resources compared to producing a small 9mm... even though I really like my G35.

Supplanting my trusty LCP will be tough... but I'll certainly buy one an try it out.

I would buy a glock 380 just on the principal of adding to my 380 collection. Give Glock their due and recognize that they are a good gun for carry.

A pocket 380 would not make much sense for Glock. There would be no LEO or military applications for it. On the other hand, a single stack 9mm would fill an obvious gap in their product line and serve a very broad market. It could be used as a primary CCW by civilians and a BUG by professionals.

No military applications, perhaps. But it is fairly common for LEOs to carry backup guns and .380ACP is a pretty common backup gun caliber from what I can determine.

Even if it were completely true that the gun wouldn't be purchased by LE or the military, it's not evidence that it wouldn't make sense for Glock to make one. That would only be true if LE and the military were the only purchasers of Glock products and that's clearly not the case.

Glock can misfire. The GAP never took off and the 36 was ill designed. I would have extended the grip and ditched the silly block on the end of the mag and added a couple more rounds. I would have also reduced the length of the grip (meaning across from front to back strap). I never like it.

A slim 9 might sell. I had a Kahr and it never ran. Ditched it.

While I would like to think it IS a single stack Glock, I wouldn't hold my breath. Just a month ago, I wrote an email to Glock expressing my desire for a single stack 9mm Glock. I mentioned the fact that their competition is filling that void and asked if there was any plans by Glock to introduce their own single stack 9mm. They sent me a two word reply. No sir.

But I realize they wouldn't have told me other wise until it is actually introduced.
