Decisions, decisions...
It's nice to have approach-approach conflicts.
Had to decide what to carry today... CZ P01 tuned by Matt Mink and equipped with CrimsonTrace laser grips; or HK P7 PSP in Metaloy Hard Chrome with Nill grips; or Hunter Custom Commander built from Caspian, blued slide over Metaloy HC frame, with Novak gold bead front sight and TheFinerGrain spinal stingray grips Today, the Hunter won out; it rode in a Mernickle high-ride OWB. Tomorrow is another day. |

It looks mean. It has a very sweet carry trigger, 8lbs DA / 4lbs SA and very smooth, which I like better than its looks.
Matt tunes a nice pistol. |

Nice! I don't have any experience with the first two. But that H.C. 1911 looks sweet. Nice pick. Loving that Hk though.

How do those stingray grips feel? I thought once or twice about ordering a set but . . .

Very grippy without being tacky or abrasive. Ray skin was used for centuries as wrapping for sword hilts, as it stays grippy even when smeared with blood.

By the looks of the hammer, the Hunter Custom is ready to go (pun intended). Kind of reminds me of the old Paladin "Have Gun Will Travel" episode.
I am sure some on here are not old enough to of ever seen the show. |

Check out Matt Mink (CZ USA shooting team; Angus Hobdell is out of Phoenix, Matt Mink is out of Conway, Arkansas).
Matt's site is http://automaticaccuracy.net/ He sells CZs in stock form, and does custom work. The two he built me were from his regular stock. I added the CT grips, later. |

lamarw, Paladin still rides on the Encore Western channel.
Before my time, as was Big Jake, but that does not mean I haven't seen them. (My first exposure to Richard Boone was as the voice of the dragon, Smaug, in the Rankin/Bass animated version of The Hobbit.) And yes, the Hunter was ready to go. Note: I live about a half hour's drive from Bob Hunter. Not only does he make very good firearms, but he is a very nice man. Last edited by MLeake; May 5, 2013 at 07:39 AM. |
