Stripping an 870 Bolt

Does anyone know how I can strip and reasemble the bolt on an 870?

Is there an online source for step by step directions?

If you actually want to totally disassemble the bolt??

At the rear of the bolt is a pin which has friction splines on it's bottom end.

Drive the pin out from top to bottom.
This releases the firing pin and spring.
Remove them to the rear.

Once the firing pin unit is out, drop the locking block out the bottom of it's slot in the bolt.

Use a small screwdriver to pull back on the extractor's plunger, while lifting the extractor out of it's position.

Remove the extractor plunger and spring from their hole in the bolt.

Reassemble in the reverse, being sure to put the bolt's firing pin retainer pin back in from the bottom of the bolt, with the splines on the pin toward the bottom.

I recently tore apart my bolt with the Remington website data, as the firing pin was broken in half on a used 870. There was a larger diameter part in the center of the pin and it broke right where the transition to the thin part was. Inspect the pin carefully for any cracks around that part. I don't know how often these pins break, but it would be a good time to inspect it. I cleaned out the guts and relubed everything. made for a slick action gun from about 1957. Parts are fairly cheap and available.
