Remington 788 bottom metal replacement

Hi,

First post, first thread.

I was wondering if anyone out there had replaced the magazine-system on an old REM 788.
I am going to order me a thumbhole stock from stockystock and was wondering if anyone knew about any bottom metal / detachable magazine systems that are interchangable. I have a Tikka t3 CDI bottom metal, but it seems the trigger guard is a tight fit in the space behind the actual trigger..
( havent verifies yet as I am struggeling to release a screw

thank you for any help and advice

That would be nice but i'm unaware of any that will swap. My .243 and .308 would look great in a thumbhole stock. Which caliber do you have?

I seriously doubt that any company will start manufacturing magazines for a rifle that has been out of production for 20+ years.

That Brandy version would match my Savage MKii stock perfectly. Hope somebody else can shed some light on this.

Original magazines are sold everywhere on the Internet. I am looking for a bottom metal replacement that will let me use Acuracy International or similar style magazines. (Such as the Rem 700 replacements CDI precision makes.. ) But it seems no one has done this before.

The stock will fit the 788 according to stockystock (allthough at least one place on the internet critisized them for doing a poor inletting job..

I've got one of there stocks and I've got no complaints about it. I did get bored with the satin look, so I sat down with a bottle of Scratch X and rubbed until it had a shine I wanted. I would buy another one from them.

mxsailor - Did you use the standard bottom metal for it? Are there any pictures anywhere?

I got the stock for a Savage MKii and I made the bottom metal out of 6061 T-6 aluminum that I duracoated black. I can't put any pics up since I'm currently deployed.
