American classic commander

I just picked up a 1911 American classic commander with 2 mags a case and 100 rds for a little over 500 bucks. I hyave never had a 1911 before but I always thought they we neat this buy was just a spur of the moment thing. The guns seems well made (havent shot it yet) after getting it i read some reviews online some say its good other bad so reviews are mixed. The only problem i noticed is the 8 round ACT-mag doesnt even feed into the gun. The 7 round colt mag i got feeds fine. Anyway the point of this post was i was hoping for some tips or suggestions from anyone with past experiances with this gun or 1911s in general.

i owned one, liked it alot, handled ball ammo fine, but with HP it worked better with 7 rounds in the mag, but 1911 mags can be finicky anyway. Any way, being the Commander you have a slightly shorter barrel but sporterized, nice gun, enjoy it. i would buy another if I had a c hance.

American Classic Commander?

I've had mine for just over a year. The "stock" magazines did not function well.
I replaced them with "Chip McCormicks" and it will eat everything I feed it, ball or HP. It has become my primary carry pistol. There is something about an all steel pistol that is comforting for an old man.
