Finished flintlock build pics.

Just finished my last build. Swamped 35" .54 Colerain barrel. Large Chambers deluxe flint lock. White Lightnin vent liner. Haines profile curly maple fullstock. All iron furniture. I built this rifle for a fairly lightweight hunting gun with a pre-revolutionary look. I am happy with how it turned out. Anxious to get out and shoot it !

Is that a Chambers kit?

I have visited Chambers shop, it is not too far from here, outside of Asheville NC.
It was a religious experience, damn, does he have some beautiful guns and gun parts in there. I thought I had cranked up the time machine, and the year was 1778.

Thanks guys, it turned out pretty good. It is not a Chambers kit. The Lock is a Large Siler built by Chambers though. I bought the stock and lock at a muzzleloader shop in PA and ordered the rest of the parts through Track of the Wolf. The stock was pre-shaped with the barrel channel and ramrod channel drilled. I had to inlet the lock, trigger, buttplate, toeplate, tang,ramrod pipes,patch box, etc. The swamped Colerain barrel started at 38" but I shortened it by three inches.

That is a sweet job. Hope you enjoy taking her out as much as working on her. I have a Kentucky that spent time on. Her best attribute is the stock. I shot her a year or so. Then I found out what it would to cost to replace it.

I went out and bought me another $150 shooter. So it now hangs above the door.

I thought it might have been a Chambers kit, because he loves swamped barrels, and about half of his guns use swamped barrels.

I built a percussion rifle once and inletted the lock, that was a lot of fun.
Gun worked pretty well, too.
That was a pretty rifle, but not as nice as yours.

Where is Cabin Creek Muzzleloaders? Sounds like a shop I would like to visit. I bought the pre-shaped stock and lock at Fort Chambers muzzleloader shop in Scotland PA.
