The cabinets, again spoils of remodel construction. They were in a bank inside of a supermarket.
Still room for another safe when the boxes of old books, and vinyl LP's are gone, along with the old metal cabinet.

Looks like you got everything you need in there. That's awesome. Wish I had room for storage cabinets like that. I'll probably be going with shelving for powder.

Last few pics till I get storage and electric. Hopefully next weekend. The paint was a b**tch to put on the bench. I've never seen anything that thick. It was like the sand finish for ceilings.. Only thicker!!image.jpg

Still have a 12 X 18 X 5 1/2 inch sheet metal "hood" being made by a friend in the sheet metal trade. I am going to put a 4" axial fan in it, and run a dryer vent hose to a vent outside. The hood gets mounted over the lead pot.

That's great, I don't cast. Partially because I don't have a good cheap source of lead and secondly I shoot mostly jacketed. That's a trick setup though.

If you have an IKEA store in your area, get there and take a look at their shelving and cabinetry. It's inexpensive, looks good, and could answer a lot of your storage needs. You have lots of room for a couple of hanging wall shelf units, they are good for powder and primers, keeps them off the floor and out of the way.
I found a couple of CD storage units at the local thrift shop, one CD wide and about 7 feet tall. Screwed them together and then mounted to the wall beside the bench in a 12 inch wide space, they hold all of my dies, caliber kits, and toolheads, and free up a lot of storage space. |

I just wish I had that much space to start reloading. I have no real area to do this in.

I'll check ikea. Already ordered akro bins and wall units. Intention is to put all brass and bullets in them. (Except the costco size).

1stmar,
excuse me if mess things up here, but this thread has caused me join up...this is my virgin post. You mentioned the storage bins...well, I have two above my loading area, and they can be tricky. I have a hard time seeing what's in them, unless I leave stuff hanging out. I built my bench around a stud wall in my unfinished basement area. It is 5X10, and holds 3 shotshell reloaders, as well as a metallic area. I did finally figure out that if I had just made them to interchange, that I would have need far less room. If I can get the photo to load, you will see the rifle/pistol loaders are mounted on micarta blocks that I can swap out in no time, all secured with 4 wing nuts, which as I said, would have been great for the shotgun stuff, if I had figured that out first. :-)Rocky Last edited by thevalueman; April 15, 2014 at 04:48 PM. |

Thevalueman, some of the bin's showed up yesterday and they are deeper then anticipated. The wall unit hasn't arrived so the jury I still out but fundamentally I agree with you and subsequently I am looking at an alternatively wall and they will be placed lower on the wall. Hoping it still works out. Wall unit shows up Monday.

So a little disappointed some if the things I ordered haven't shown up. Would be much more organized by now. Good news is I think the akro bins are going to work out well. Just need the wall unit to show up (Monday).

I mounted my rcbs jr3 to a new inline fabrication mount. Super strong, I like it better then the Dillon strong mount.

Akro bins are perfect size. Only concern is the possible weight. Rack can hold 160lbs. Things are order: 2 akro mills wall units, Dillon bullet tray, Dillon empty case bin. Need a storage rack for powder/primers bulk bullets and another plug mold strip. Did I say how much like the inlinefabrication mount? Thinking about a new handle for my jr3... Wife is gonna kill me..

Glad I clicked this thread, so many good ideas posted here. I'm also in the middle of a remodel of my room (an otherwise unused bedroom). My bench is 3' x 4', and I intend to re-build it into a 2' x 5' (maybe 6')... I found that the extra "depth" was unused but was always wishing I had made it wider.

I think 2ft is perfect if you plan to have shelving or something on the other side of the bench. You don't want to be leaning over 3-4 ft.

Akro bins installed, need to organize. Holding a lot of wait. Supposedly can hold 160lbs.
