Wow, someone is keeping track LOL. I've been casting with Lee molds for muzzle loading for a couple years, loading for cartridges just recently.
Actually I've been casting for over 20 years if you count fishing sinkers LOL. |

cchardwick, you do NOT want to get in the habit of tapping the mold blocks with ANYTHING. If you have to assist the bullets a bit, the best bet is to spend a few bucks and get a hickory hammer handle. Tap the hinge pin--where the handles are connected together--not the molds. When they get hot, they are very easy to deform and knock out of alignment.
And yes--aluminum is easy to use, but I recommend some of Midway's Mold Release spray. It's nothing more than a moly-based spray, but if prepped per instructions, the bullets will literally fall out of the mold. |
