I know what FMJ, TMJ, swaged, and cast, but what are plated bullets?

Plated bullets have a thin coat of copper aplied to the bullet via electrolysis. This gives them a thin "plating" of copper as a jacket. They can be reloaded, for the most part, like regular FMJ bullets. Their jackets are thinner, which saves money, but some folks have reported problems with certain guns and plated bullets.
The jackets on regular FMJ rounds are much thicker and are not usually electroplated on (unless you are talking Speer Gold Dots). |
