I installed a Tactical Link Z-360 mount on my RRA Elite Operator 2 and went outside and shot it about 60 rounds.I came in and went to clean it and inside where the bolt carrier is at it was rubbing in a couple of places.I have had the gun about a month and that is the first time I have noticed the rubbing.I have shot it about 3 different times and cleaned it everytime and thats the first time that I have notice it.I didn't think it was supposed to rub like that.

Here are some photos of the shiny spots that just came up today. Do you think it came from the Z360 mount? The mount bolts on to the buffer tube.

Yep, normal. The mount has nothing to do with it.

In fact, that tells you EXACTLY where you need to lube it. If it shines, it gets lube. Run it wet. But run it.

I wasn't doubting your word the first time just worried about my gun.I just thoutght I would have seen it last time I cleaned it.Thanks

I lube it everytime I clean it.I use regular gun oil, anything different I need to use?

Yea , CLP or slip 2000 EWL 30 or axel grease . I like to use thicker oils/grease on the BCG . It stays in place longer when it heats up in there . I said CLP cus I've been told it's miracle juice . It has worked for me and I use it all the time on every gun exept the BCG on my ARs .

I wanted to post a couple of photos I just took of one of my uppers ( they all look about the same ). I have put more then 600 and less then 1,000 rounds through it . I do not see the same wear the OP got on his . No shiny silver lines on mine . Are we sure thats normal or have I not shot mine enough ?

Look at the carrier next to the gas key. You well see four narrow raised ribs 2.5" long at 2, 4, 8 and10 o'clock. These are the bearing surface for the bolt carrier. Adding a light grease like Tetra gun grease or Lubriplate 130-A to these is good to do. You can get by with just clp or other gun oil but I like to grease this area.

The wear you are seeing in the upper is perfectly normal. You well see the phosphate coating on the carrier wear also.

What worried me was that when I installed the Z360 mount, and I pulled the carrier back, it only came half way. Then I loosened the bolts on the mounts and it worked freely.Then I went and shot the gun. I was just worried that I might have damaged the buffer tube maybe. Thanks for the advice about the grease, I'll try it.

I called RRA and sent them the same pictures and they said it was normal wear.Thanks for the advice....

Is the Z-360 a sling mount? That will have no effect on wear of the parts.

The shiny spot in the center of the upper is from the charging handle. People have a tendency to pull slightly upward when racking it, so you will find wear there as well as the rear end of the channel.

You will find wear on the lower edges of the round sections of the upper as that is the weight of the bolt carrier group dragging on it. Also normal. You'll find the finish starts to wear off on the center of the hammer as well, from dragging on the bolt carrier when the gun cycles.
