Can anyone tell me what loading manual has a standard pressure load for a 38 special, 125 grain FMJ bullet (Montana Gold), using 231 powder? Winchesters manual just shows +P data for jacketed bullets. I'd like a milder load for practice with an airweight snub....
Thanks for the help... Mike M. |

One of my favotite 9MM loads is 4.2 W231.
On the FMJ 124gr bullet, Whinchester list 4.2 to 4.5 Min To Max.In my reloading manual. The complete reloading Manual for the 9MM Luger. Tony |

My Speer #13 lists the .38 spl 125 GR/TMJ W231 5.6grs 944fps. OAL 1.435
It also says not to reduce this load. your right according to winchester this is a +P load. Guess I'm not much help but this is what my book says.

Thanks guys,
I've been using 5.0 grains of 231, and according to Win. data, that's a middle of the road +P load, yet Lyman calls that standard pressure, Speer says I don't use enough powder! I only use 231, so I've just used Win. manual. Guess I need to pick up Lyman's and maybe Speer's books and do some research! Mike M. |
