Savage 99 RS Disassembly and Cleaning
I inherited a Savage 99 RS (with the Lyman Number 2 peep site). It's in beautiful condition, but I would like to find instructions on breakdown, cleaning and lubrication. It's been stored in a closet for the last 50 years so I probably need to blow out the cobwebs before firing it.

I found the following book quite helpfull.
The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly: Centerfire Rifles It is available from amazon. I used my copy when I did a thorough cleaning of mine. It had not be completely disassembled for about 30 years and had collected quite a bit in the bottom of the magazine well. If you can't get the book perhaps I can get you the info from my copy. Jim |

Do NOT disassemble the magazine assmebly!
I can't stress that strongly enough. They are VERY fiddly to get back together. Just flush it out with Gun Scrubber or brake parts cleaner.
