Sealed with a kiss

Just picked up an early navy Sig (no rail, 2 digit serial number).

Nice one! I have the MK25 and love it - although I wish it had the standard rail instead of the 1913 rail.

Should have made it 'Sealed with a KRISS' and posted a Vector.

Noice! I think I like it better without the rail.

Congratulations! I have a 1988 production P226 in 9x19 and it is a fine accurate and reliable pistol

Does your Navy have 'mud rails'?

No sabe mud rails. Please edify me.

Also, is this in any way made for salt water corrosion resistance?

Are you going swimming with it?

Lol. While I do honestly think they're cool, to an extent it does amuse me. The average guy isn't going to need salt corrosion resistance, and if he does he's probably in a world of hurt. But I still would buy it. The NSW serial number is pretty cool.

In all seriousness, I think the biggest reason that the MK25 is selling so well is because it comes with 3 mags and night sights at $799.... That's not a bad price at all. The special coating and all that is just extra stuff that I can give or take.

No I don't see myself coming out of the water shooting anything in this lifetime; I'd just like to know more details or anecdotes about this gun. Also curious to know how many of these NSW guns were made.

No mud rails and 10 round Clinton era mags. I doubt the Seals get stuck with 10 round mags. I better get some 15 rounders before that's the stupid law of the stupid land again. What's a good source for 226 mags?

Skip the 15rd mags and go for the 18rd mags.

The flush fitting 18 rders are really nice. On a full size pistol no reason not to, especially with a great manufacturer like MecGar.

Got a Jekyl/Hyde thing going for me

Sometimes I look at it and think the lines are sexy and menacing. Other times I see it as all too angular and awkward. Never shot one so it's just visual appeal.

18 rounders, might as well. External extractor so per link it must be a milled slide.

What year is yours kcub? I don't see it posted

turn the pistol upside down. Under the frame at the forward portion (exterior, not interior) is a stamped 'bug'. Two letters should also be present. The letters indicate YOM

If it's German produced and if it's early enough in production then yes. But given it's stainless steel slide I doubt it.

I thought I had seen 'W Germany' on the slide but it seems I am very wrong!

According to this they started in 2004.

I did not know there was a flat dark earth MK25. For Seals arriving by ship-of-the-desert perhaps?

Here's a photo of one of my early P226's with mud rails ... Sig stopped producing them with mud rails after a rash of these failures. In discussions with them when this failure occurred a couple years ago, they offered to apply this 25+ year old pistol for credit towards another current product. Talk about standing behind their product!

It was a shame, it was one of my all time favorites.
