I like my 442, but once the Apex 9lb trigger kit arrives and gets installed, I suspect I will like it even more.

Personal preference rules here

There is no doubt Smith & Wesson rules in the J frame revolvers. I have an old 649 (no dash) that I have had for decades. It is a great little gun. I may get the new 357 version out now. Still, the all steel 649 is heavy.

I recently bought a Ruger LCR 38 Special +P. I added a Crinsom Trace grip laser ($50 rebate still on). I find I can actually carry the LCR in a pocket holster and it really does not print through. The cylinder has a unique shape that does not show much. I have actually started to carry the LCR more than my other guns, now that I can hit things better with it. It took a couple trips to the range to feel comfortable about my accuracy with the LCR.

I also bought the Speer short barrel ammo. It should help minimize being blinded by firing at night. You should try night fire to really appreciate how tough it can be. The laser helps in low light and in maintaining a good aim while squeezing the trigger. Remember not to short stroke the LCR trigger; the release requires the trigger to go all the way forward.

From personal experience don't get the Taurus.Mine fell apart in my hand this past Sunday and Taurus is charging me for parts. The warranty is only good if I send them the gun.I'll buy the parts[less than $10,just p*ssed of on principle]and fix it myself rather than wait 4 months.Never again.

The trigger on the LCR is amazing compared to my 340 M&P with a factory trigger job.
