New England Pardner Pump / Remington 870
I bought a New England Pardner Pump at the local pawn shop last year for potential use as a turkey/bird gun ( 12ga with 28in ribbed barrel ).
It has been a great shot gun and its never given me any problems and seems to be well made. I have been told that it is basically an 870 with a cheaper price tag. How true is this and if so, will 870 parts fit these shot guns? This gun doubles as a home defense weapon and its hard to turn corners in the house with a 28in barrel if you know what I mean I would like to switch out to a pistol grip and a shorter barrel when I am not hunting. Would it be cheaper to just buy another pistol grip shot gun specifically for the closet?

Here is a good review from resident Pardner expert MAX100
http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f...o-review-6488/ All parts interchange including barrel with a spacer (per MAX100) I have one and think it is fantastic - worth every penny. Remington is doing us a favor by importing the "Pardner 870" You can get a barrel from H&R. I think pistol grips blow on a shotgun but to each his own. |

Maybe you can get a shorter barrel from H&R NEF. They use to offer them. If not just buy a Hawk 982 the same shotgun with a different style receiver. They are low cost enough that it should be a big deal.
The made in China Savage Stevens 350 Ithaca 37 style shotgun. It's an excellent shotgun and a step above the Pradner Pump & 982 shotguns in fit, finish, stock and machining. It compares nicely to shotguns in the $500 - $600 price range. They run a little over $200 and around $249 with LPA style ghost ring sights. GC Last edited by MAX100; July 7, 2010 at 11:27 AM. |
