reduced power load info

does any one no of a good reduced load for the 356 winchester rifle. my dad has an abundance of 160 gr nyclad cast bullets and is looking for a reduced power load. my speer and hornady books have nothing at all for cast bullets.he found one for around 1800 fps . he was looking to get down around 1500-1600 fps. all he's going to do is punch paper and burn em up.

maybe thats his problem he had some loaded at 1900fps and grouping was lousy. i think he's figuring slower would tighten the grouping up.

Try the IMR website and/or their data booklet. SR 4759 should work.
www.imrpowder.com.

This is from an old issue of Handloader.
158gr Lyman 358156 IMR 800-X 9.0gr@1320fps
Primer: Win. LR; 1 1/2 MOA;Super Grex filler,
150gr Lyman 358091 IMR 3031 25gr no velocity given.
Primer: Rem. 9 1/2; 3/4 inch at 25 yards; Tang sight employed.
In a later issue they loaded a 158gr HP with 30.0gr of IMR 3031 @ 1715fps.
5 grains Dacron added; 1 1/2-inch(100yds) groups. I would use the Dacron instead of the Grex.

Another load is from Hodgdon. It is for a 180gr Speer FP. It is 24.0gr of H-4227 @ 1878fps.

Plinking loads:
If all else fails use the 358 Win. loads from the old Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook. These loads are for a 206gr cast bullet. They are only 0.5gr lighter than the loads for the 150gr bullet. These are starting loads.
9.0gr of Red Dot
10.0gr of Green Dot
11.0gr of Unique
9.0gr of 700X
10.0gr of PB
11.0gr of SR7625
