.22lr/.45lc/.410 over under leinad derringer

Here's my next project....I've been offered a 22lr/.45lc/.410 over under leinad derringer kit from a member of another forum, leinad no longer makes this kit and it's a bit hard to find at places like gunbroker.com and for 60.00 shipped, I can't complain.

not my gun in the first picture but what it will look like

I can only add a little input on the 45/410 aspect of your gun. One of my sons recently traded into a side-by-side Leonid-Cobray 45/410 Derringer.

I think the DD must stand for Double Deathtrap because even on safety, the firing pins protrude enough to touch the primers. We shot it anyway, one-handed. 45 Colt reloads doing 850 fps with a 255 grain bullet were invigorating, let me tell you.

The grip is just big enough to crunch down on with your second finger and the trigger housing rests right against the knuckle of that finger. When you touch it off, that knuckle takes takes a hell of a whack and the barrels pivot skyward. I think this is a design feature because that's where it shoots, too; about 16" above the front sight at ten paces, with either barrel. The big 45 slugs land sideways most of the time, with enough impetus to rip a chunk of pine out the back of a wooden cable spool. That would leave a mark.

With Remington #6 field loads, it made roughly 16" patterns at five paces. They printed a little high too, but less so than with 45 Colts.

After 35 shots of 45 Colt and .410 shot, I had a swelled middle finger knuckle with some hide missing off it. It was a great time and I'm going to buy one, but the 22/410 is the one that appeals to me. By all means get it and post a range report. Just watch the firing pin length and don't trust the safety.

On my .45/.410 Leinad derringer I have no problem with the safety at all and my hammer/firing pin has no clearance issues.

If yours is good, I wouldn't worry about it.

Found an actual shooting review of the 22/45/410 & thought you might enjoy it.
