Round nose or flat point for IPSC?
I'm just starting to shoot IPSC and I have noticed many shooters using flat point (JFP) bullets. Is there an advantage to these over round nose (FMJ), especially on the steel targets?

Go with what works.
I've shot FP Truncated Cone bullets for years, but have recently switched to FP Semi-Wadcutters. The SWCs cut a nice sharp hole that makes scoring much easier.
Some guns, however, will only feed round nosed bullets reliably, so use what works in your gun.

I always used lead or plated semi-wadcutters in my 1911 for IPSC. For years I used the 200 grain variety with good results, then went to 255 grain bullets. With the lowered power factor, I think I would go with 200 grain bullets, if I ever get back into IPSC. Round nose bullets will be the most reliable feeders, but it can be difficult to see and score hits on the cardboard targets.
