Are IMI bullets any good?
I'm looking for a good low cost 240gr. JHP to use in both
a Ruger Redhawk and a Marlin rifle. Are the IMI .44mag bullets I see in Widner's any good? Is there anything out there I can buy cheeply in bulk? I really like the Hornady bullets but 16$ per hundred is a little steep! Thanks, rdan |

I've used IMI .223 and 9mm JHP's from Wideners, good, inexpensive bullets. Only problem is availability sometimes. If you can't get the IMI sometimes Remington aren't much more.

Try to get some 240gr SJSP by Fiocci, they are quite inexpensive here in Scandinavia anyway... about $0.12 each, including primer.
You have to buy at least 1000 bullets though.

I recently finished reloading my third thousand of IMI .223 from Widener's. I love 'em. They're VERY accurate and consistent.
I didn't want to jack up my credit card right now so I bought a couple of hundred gun show Winchesters to "fill in" thinking they'd be as good or better. Guess what ... they ain't. I'm waiting for Widener's to restock .30 Carbine IMI 110gr bullets so I can try them out in my GI I bought late last year. Looks like the credit card is going to take a beating after all.

Hello. I've tried the IMI 115 gr Dicut JHPs in 9mm. They ARE accurate, but do not expand so just use them on paper.
Best. |

I bought some IMI 240 grain .44's and was not very happy with them.
The crimping grove was not consistant in location nor square to the axis of the bullet. This made crimping very difficult. I will not buy any more of them. |
