New RC K98

Picked up a new RC K98 at an on-line estate sale this weekend. A contract Portuguese 1941 K98. According to Ball's MMRotW, these rifles were originally made by Mauser for the Portuguese, but released to the Wehrmacht in 1944. Guess the Russkies got this one.

possible blood pitting on the left side of the receiver.....not every RC was in racks in an armory when captured, they were battlefield pick ups as well.
all were cleaned up and reblued by the russians.

RCs were stripped to the last screw, acid dipped, re-blued and all parts put in large vats.
Nothing is from the original K98k.
The only thing that is a Oberndorf 1941 Portuguese contract is the barreled receiver, all other parts came from other guns.

Still, good find and worth more than the common RC with that crest and looks good in the pix.
