just as good

I might add that you need to watch for small primer pockets

At one time when sorting brass for small primer pockets the sorter could look for 'nt' or something like that. Federal, then FC, before that it was TW. The T identified as TWIN located in the twin city area of Minneapolis and St Paul. The W could mean Works.

I sort TW/FC cases with a magnet. I could use the color code but I have this magna-flux machine just hanging there, stuck to the leg of an old lathe table. The lathe is necessary , when I stick it to anything else everything it is stuck to comes with it. It is not easy to look cool separating all that metal from a magnet.

It is assumed all the 45 ACP cases are brass, it is assumed all 45 ACP cases use the same large pistol primer, I have full boxes of 45 ACP ammo that that is not brass.

I am not interested in firing steel cases in anything I own, I am the fan of the embeddable case. I do not want anything between the case and chamber but air, but there are no guarantees, if something gets between the case and chamber I want an embeddable case.

Just as good as any other brass cases out there. I've got a few hundred. Having to sort for small primers is a PITA......but I use em anyway.

I only use the small primer Speer and Federal NT. No one else wants to pick up my brass at the range.

I like the idea of small primer pockets for standard handgun calibers.
A smaller primer pocket means greater case head strength, and modern small pistol primers can ignite most handgun charges just fine.

When it comes to semi auto pistols the INDUSTRY and a certain segment of custom shooters prefer large pistol primers because they are forgiving of firing pin off-set which is a boon to 1911 shooters who run "long links".

Personally I'd like to see the 10mm go to small RIFLE primers to increase pressure handling ability.

Small primers. Not necessarily a bad thing, just an annoyance.

They still pick up your brass, only to throw it away later.

If I am shooting and someone else comes up I tell them I am shooting small primer 45's (or 38 Super) and they will usually chase down my brass and hand it to me so they won't get it mixed in with their 45's or 9MM.

IMO, the only problem with small primer 45 ACP brass is those reloaders that won't inspect their brass! I shoot mixed brass in my 45 ACPs and Federal and FC brass is working fine for me...

I've loaded plenty of "Federal" stamped .45 brass in both large and small primer. I just put the small primer brass off to the side until I have enough to justify loading it all up. Or I trade it away.
