.45 Wmag & .460 Rowland
Somebody know a site with case specs, web dimensions and volumes of these cases with overall lengths? Can they both be based on .308/30-06 cases? Thinking about a project and need more info on these cases.

I have two guns that I shoot 460 Rowland loads in:
A 20 ounce Patriot A 15 pound Turkish Masuer in 45acp tight chamber Starline 45 Super brass show no difference from ordinary 45 brass in threshold of stretching or primer pocket growth. I have not seen any bulges in any 45 acp brass yet. I have only gone to 11.8 gr of AA#5 in a poorly supported chamber [Colt 1911], but I have gone past 460 Rowland levels in a Patriot [pistol with good chamber support]. 0) 45 acp......................... 185 gr 7.6 gr AA#5 jams stock recoil spring 1) 45 acp......................... 185 gr 10.2 gr AA#5 1100 fps 18,000psi 2) 45 acp +P.................... 185 gr 10.8 gr AA#5 1200 fps 21,700 psi 3) 45 Super...................... 185 gr 12.4 gr AA#5 1312 fps 28,000 cup 4) 460 Rowland................ 185 gr 14.5 gr AA#5 1500 fps 38,800 cup 5) Easy extraction ............ 185 gr 15.0 gr AA#5 1550 fps 20 oz Patriot 6) Case starts to stretch..... 185 gr 15.2 gr AA#5 1770 fps 15 lb 98 Mauser 7) difficult extraction ......... 185 gr 16.0 gr AA#5 1850 fps 15 lb 98 Mauser 8) primer falls out ............. 185 gr 16.5 gr AA#5 1900 fps 15 lb 98 Mauser |

Hey Clark,
Why don't you try a slower burning powder in your tests. AA#5 is quite fast and is putting undo strain on your guns with the pressure peak  , based on the loads you typed...I have done extensive .45 Super research, and the powders of choice are ALL slower than AA#5. May I recommend: AA#7 HS-7 Ramshot Enforcer VV N-350 Blue Dot Be safe... YMMV,

I have tried as much 2400 and H110 as fits in the case. It just doesn't have the velocity of AA#5.
Power Pistol and LONG SHOT also work. I have read that AA#7 is best, I have that and Blue Dot lying around. I should try it. The limiting factor is not pressure, but recoil with my three pistols. The limiting factor with the rifle is pressure. I have to kick the bolt open. I have shot 9mm at pressures way past human extraction. I think 45 acp may have the same potential. |

2400 and H110 are too slow. Not enough case capacity. AA#7 is IMO the best .45 ACP/Super or 460 Rowland powder there is...
