Severe thread choke on Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter.

I have a new 7.5" super blackhawk hunter bisley 44 mag with some pretty bad thread choke, my cylinders measure from .4355-.436, the bore after the forcing cone is .430 for about an inch and the rest of the bbl is .435. It is so bad I can see the step when looking down the bbl. The other thing that bugs me is the step is not symmetrical and worse on the top of the bore. As you can imagine this is hell with cast boolits (all I shoot). Accuracy is around 4"-6" at 100 yds but taper off quickly as fouling quickly accumulates.
I've considered sending it to ruger to get replaced but am not fond of sending it off for 3 months without guarantee of a successful bbl swap. On the other hand I have read several reports of lapping procedures with mixed results, the thing that scares me is the fact that it is worse on the top half of the bore and I feel that lapping will only transfer this misalignment. Through the lapping processes.
Another resort will be me turning off the first inch of barrel and re threading and spacing the barrel (entertaining but hopefully avoidable).
So has anyone had an experience like this that was easily fixed or do I use this as an excuse to machine a 10" bbl?

The first thing I would do is to call Ruger and explain the problem. Ruger has an excellent customer service and will most probably fix the problem and pay for the shipping. They are the ones that will tell you what they will do.

I'll give ruger a call tomorrow, we'll see what they say.
