Sierra 240 Grain HPBT

What kind of performance could I get out of this? Shooting from a 24" barrel. Ruger M77Hawkeye. 300 Win Mag. Thanks alot.

The highest velocity I can see for 220 bullet is around 2750 fps, so the 240 SMK would be around the 2500 2600 fps

Running it in QuickLOAD to peak pressures, you can almost get to 2700 fps. Ramshot Magnum (Big Boy) gets it to 2694 fps. VV N570, and Accurate Magpro are a couple more peak performing powders by that calculation.

The main thing with that long range match bullet is that its ballistic coefficient is so high that it loses velocity slowly. Since the effect of wind is proportional to the difference between what flight time would be in a vacuum (muzzle velocity all the way) and actual flight time, that slow drop off in velocity is very promising for shooting at 1000 yards and other long range targets.
