AMT Back Up 9mm Dating Info

Hello,
I am considering buying a 9mm AMT Back Up. Can somebody help me date a gun I've got my eye on? Does someone know the years these guns were made ( Irwindale, Ca models )? Any help is most appreciated.

Hello, hoobens.

AMT Back Up 9mm pistols were first introduced in late 1991 and production continued through late 1995.

The following production figures pertain to AMT Back Up 9mm pistols.

1991-1
1992-355
1993-35
1994-29
1995-415

In 1996 Galena Industries took over AMT operations and continued producing the Back Up series pistols. I don't have production numbers for Galena but Galena filed for bankruptcy in 2001. In 2002, High Standard of Houston, Texas acquired all Galena assets and machinery, and to date HS continues to build and sell Back Ups.

Hope this helps.
