CZ-527
I believe that was the model, it was a light weight rifle in .223 without iron sights and a 1 in 12 twist. Anyone with hands on have an opinion, wish it had a faster twist.

I have one in .204. It's a sicko...tight groups with the right ammo, handles bautifully. I have the Varmint model with heavier barrel...I don't know if I posted it on here or not, but a few weeks ago, I took it out to try to find out which ammo worked best in it...Hornady, Remington, or Federal (all 40g stuff), and found that I could get a little tighter than 1/2" 5 shot groups with the Federal stuff. I was in a predicament as to which sub-caliber rifle to buy for a long time. Ordered a custom AR...guy didn't come through, so I took to Scheel's for some time fondling several rifles, and ran across the 527 Varmint in a used rack at another gun store...ordered a new one about a week later. I'm super glad I did, I can't believe the guns accuracy and SWEET trigger. I have two regrets about the CZ; 1. I wish I could have found an American made rifle that I liked as much. 2. I wish I had gotten it sooner.

I've had a 527 American in .223 for 6-7 years and have been real happy with it. It shoots great and I've never had a problem with it. There's only two things about it that I don't like. The first is that I had to reshape the bolt handle in order to mount the scope as low as I wanted. The second is that I don't like the way that the magazine hangs down below the stock. However, they now offer this rifle with a different trigger guard and a flush fit magazine.

If they ever offer the varmint model as a single shot I'm on it. I had the 527 in 7.62x39. I had trouble with light hits on hard primers. |

CZ 527 .223 Cal. Varmint H-S Precision Kevlar Rifle w/ Weaver 6-20x40mm AO Grand Slam Riflescope. Very nice, great adjustable set/standard trigger, accurate.

I have the 527 American and the Varmint models- and wouldn't part with either one for twice the $$. I honestly don't unnerstand the 1:12 twist thing. Both of mine are 1:9, I've read on here before that all CZ's were 1:12's so I checked mine and came up with 1:9. And, I've had a GunSmith friend check them also when we were out goofing off and he came up with 1:9 also. Could the 527's be measured on a metric scale or something different?
Anyhow, I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread. OP- you can't go wrong with a 527... go fer it.

The one I'm looking at has a light barrel the salesman tells me is 22", but appears shorter to me, without sights and a walnut checkered stock. The website for cz says the barrels are 1 in 12. Has anyone shot cast bullets through there 527?
