Indian Enfield bolt interchange w/No1Mk3 ??
I've got a chance to buy an Indian made Enfield in 308 caliber BUT it's missing the bolt. Are the bolts interchangable between the No.1Mk3 and the Indian rifle? The rifles look the same on photos but I've never examined an Indian rifle in person. What part(s) are unique to the Indian made 308, if any? Thanks for any help.

Save yourself the headache.
Give Springfield Sporters, Inc. a call, they should have No1MkIII bolts in stock, as well as the interchangeable bolt heads and their different headspace numbers.
The Ishapore Enfields in .308 have a different extractor, extractor spring, and headspace, since they fire the rimless .308 round. With some smithing, they might work in the .303 British No1MkIII, but why take the chance? |

Hi, Gewehr98,
I think your answer is the reverse of LtBlue's question, but the info is correct. I think Springfield Sporters has Rifle 2 bolts. Jim |

Oops.
Regardless, get the proper bolt for the rifle. Using a bolt intended for a rimless round on a rimmed round gun, or vice versa, is asking for trouble.
