The Lyman Pistol & Revolver 3rd Edition has a section dedicated solely to the .480 Ruger by Brian Pierce. It has a good bit of load info, and they list quite a few loads for it.

Plinking with a 480Ruger is gonna be awfully expensive.

I cast bullets for the 480 with the Lee 325 SWC. I use 2400. Bullets are infact expensive, casting your own lowers cost substantially. Also Ranier plated bullets are relatively cheap if you do not cast.

I use a 415gr hunter hard cast with 20gr of 296 for Big Thump.
10gr of unique and a 300-335gr cast should be a great plinking load if your so inclined.
