New SigPro SP2022

Hi guys, I picked up a new SP2022 9mm.

First impressions are all good. I like the look of the gun and the ergos, it fit's my hand well and seems very well built. Comes in a plastic case with one mag and an extra grip. I believe the medium is installed and the large is in the case. Takedown and reassemble takes a little getting use to, but I have been practicing and see no problem, it should get easier with use. The DA pull is smooth and steady and should make for an ideal home defense gun. The SA pull is light and very easy, should also make for a great range gun. I did not buy this gun for carry.

As soon as I get her out, I'll post a range report. Overall, I'm very excited and pleased so far.

Thanks to the members here that recommended this gun to me.

Lee

Congrats; you have a fine pistol. And for what these are going for, they are one of the best buys in the handgun world today.

Very nice gun... They are going for $400.00 and $440.00. I about picked one up this weekend but I was looking for something a little smaller for CCW. I ended up getting Ruger SR9C. I love the look and price of the Sig 2022 and its a Sig.

Congrats on your new gun! Hope it serves you well.

I am a happy owner of a made in Germany SP2022. I looked at one today that had the stainless diamond plate slide with night sights. It was a good price for $419. I was about to buy it to add to the one I already have. However, I saw another Sig pistol and that one came home with me instead.

I have one in 9mm I love it. I broke the extractor on it within 300 rounds within a month though. But since it has come back its be 100% dead on.

I wish it came with 2 mags cause spare mags run 35.00+. But it sa good gun and a SIg so you cant go wrong. I love the way it looks to. I replaced my P95 with this.

I noticed some of the recent production guns came from the factory with the barrel hood in the white while others are blued. I wonder why?

Because someone forgot to finish that area. Not kidding.

I am the custodian of a PPK and have gotten to play with that action type. Have no real use for it, too much monkey motion and reverse safety, ugh (nice gun mechanically, just not functionally impressed)

Love SP2022, and I bought it sight unseen and no handling (some guns just not available up here)

I did shoot and handle a P220 (old style). Everything I read indicated the SP2022 matched up well with that.

Spot on. More than met what I wanted, exceeded expectations.

SP2022 is simpler as it only has two levers. Coming from 1911 type where there was no de-cocker, this is just too nice.

Reliable, accurate, very good price. Adjustable grips (went with the larger ones finally but the mid size not too bad).

Trigger is good revolver type DA, and the SA is as good as it gets short of a 1911 type.

I don't see how they wold have blued the barrels but forgot to blue the hoods. I'm thinking the barrels may be coming from different sources or they changed the process.

False.

That's a signature thing for almost all Sig models. The top of the barrel hood is always left stainless while the rest is blued.

It was made in Exeter. The turnaround time was about 2 weeks to get fixed. Not bad. You send the gun to them via UPS. You get the gun back via Fed Ex.

Good to hear it did not take too long. Glad to know they did it right too as you stated "no problems since".

I wish mine was unfinshed as it got scraped up in pretty short order. Small nit though for such a great pistol.

I read that in 2008 they started making the 2022 in Germany. If I were to buy a new one now, how would I tell where it was made? I might have to order it.

Also, is the guide rod steel? Thank you.

Congrats. I've been thrilled with mine so far. For the price, it's tough to beat.

Tim: I think all the new ones are Exeter. If you want a German you'll have to go older. Someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Current ones for sale are all made in Exter.

The guide rod is poly.

If you look hard enough you might be able to find a German made SP2022 with triple serial numbers and Ilaflon finish. They are more and getting pricier because of the scarcity of them but worth the extra money IMO if you can get one around $500.

Hard to find the German ones these days.... They came with night sights and 3 mags. I replaced the medium grip with the small one.
