If you could post some pictures, that would really help!

Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of information with what you've given us so far. Pictures of the rifle and the markings would give is a lot of information.

EIG was a Florida importer from the 50's thru early 70's. They imported cheap guns and knives. It should have a date code, either Roman numerals or two letters in a box. That will tell you what year it was made. It should also have a manufacturers stamp on it to tell who made it. Don't expect much from it tho.
