Most common ammunition in North America.
Simple question, but one that I figured I would ask from those of you who have seen a lot of brass.
I was reading a book by Dean Ing, and in it he made some observations about the most common ammo in the U.S. (book was written in 1983). The ammo he listed: 22LR, 30/30, .45, 12G. That was over 18 years ago, and in my lifespan I've seen ammo such as 7.62X39 become a very popular round, I'm sure there are others (maybe even some old mil-surplus). What is the most commonly found ammo in the United States now? Thanks, Jon

I think without a doubt, .22LR. I've never seen a dealer that doesn't have it in stock.

.22lr, .223, 30/30, 30`06, .308, 12ga
& .38 spl, 9mm, .45acp I have always seen these calibers on the shelves of my local Wally world, KMart, Meijers, gun shops, and sporting goods stores. Sometimes the Kmart and Meijers won't have any .45 acp or .308 but, those stores don't have much of a firearms section. Kmarts in my area are real dumps that are not ever properly stocked. How they stay in business is beyond me. |
