Removing lead and copper with lead removing cloth ?

Have any of you use the lead cleaning cloth, cut up into small patches to clean your bore with. What is your opinion of this? Good, Bad, is it harmfull in any way?
I heard of doing this on a post here at TFL.
I have tried it once and it worked great but I want to know that it is safe.

It works well, but be careful... it'll also remove bluing from places where you don't want it removed -- like the front of the cylinder, if you're not careful.

Its great with nickel and stainless steel guns.

SECRET

I use this method VERY sparingly; my barrels are rarely cleaned and I credit judicious polishing action of my "Kleen-Bore" cloth.
They lead very little, nor do they strip plated bullet material, even at 124g/1430fps I (used to) need for IPSC Major.

Rarely cleaned.

I use them . . .

. . . on really stubborn deposits. I always oil afterward to neutralize the chemicals in the cloth.

Regards.
