ZCORR Anti Corrosion Gun Bags

ZCORR Firearm Storage & Preservation (FSP) Bags utilize military proven technology and are simple to use. Slide a clean firearm or ammunition into the puncture resistant, non-abrasive ZCORR FSP bag and seal it shut with the re-useable VelcroTM closure. Depending on use, retrieve your firearm up to twenty years later, and it’s ready to use without need for cleaning or re-oiling, just like the day it was stored.

Hey all,
Looking for some opinions on this idea. We are thinking of making up some ammo can VpCI liners and I'd like to get some feedback. The idea is to have them for the three most common sizes for now and would either have our Velcro closer or a zipper seal.

We are also thinking of making a few bag sizes for other loose ammo such as the small blue bag in the first photo of this thread.

Wait a second... ammo can liners? For storing ammo?

Won't VPI fumes kill primers? That's what I've always understood.

To our understanding the VpCI molecules don't have any negative effects on the ammo primers. The molecules do create a layer on metal surfaces but disperse once removed from the bags. We have been testing the liners and all of the ammo stored so far has fired as expected.

Can you help me understand how it could have a negative effect?

I may be wrong in my assumptions here, but I always understood that VPI was essentially a very light, easily vaporizable (is that a word? I don't know) oil.

Oil vapor will, over time, kill primers. I've seen it happen.

If, however, VPI isn't oil, then it may not be an issue.

I will do some research and hopefully draw up a clear cut answer to this. I'll post my findings here.

Check back in a day or so.

VpCI vapors are not in any way an oil. In fact they are an excellent alternative to corrosion inhibiting oils.

VpCI begins as a powder based chemical which sublimates into vapor. What exactly that chemical is, is a trade secret that we cannot share but I assure you it is not similar in any way to oil.

Interesting fact: many oil pipelines around the world are protected by corrosion inhibiting chemicals that are added to the oil.

So in addition to the ammo can liners we are playing around with we are also experimenting with some potential ammo preservation bags and want to know what you folks think.

The sizes so far are

3"x4"
4"x6"
8"x11"

No prices as of yet but hopefully by the weekend.

Here are some sample images.

Hey all,
I have started posting 3 different sized ammo bags on our site at http://www.zcorrproducts.com/collect...m-storage-bags.

These bags are made from the same interior layer as our ZCORR Gun Bags but instead of a foil barrier layer they are coated with a clear barrier layer providing the same performance and protection.

Here's one older , 1975 , paper.
http://www.cortecvci.com/Publication...cts/CTP-10.pdf

For more info just Google 'vapor phase inhibitor' .
I have been using them for 40 years and as the paper explains they first were for ferrous alloys then they developed some for non-ferrous also.
My long term gun storage is to clean the gun thoroughly, apply a thin coat of RIG ,wrap with VPI paper , then put into a zip-loc bag .Works very well.I'm sure ZCORR works just as well !

That's a great post mete. Our bags were designed to make the preservation process the easiest we could. The VpCI layer we use is so effective and the foil barrier layer locks not only locks in everything in the bag but also locks out everything in the surrounding atmosphere.

Just wanted to give a heads up and let you all know that we will be releasing our top of the line storage bag this coming week. It is the M-16 Rifle bag that we have manufactured for the United States Marine Corps. These are the same bags that are discussed on our Military Origins Page. These bags offer the highest protection by combining the same anti corrosion performance of our ZCORR bags with a puncture proof liner.

Pricing will be available very shortly.
