NC: Contact committee to move HB 937 to the floor for vote

This bill has passed committee and his headed to the house floor for vote:

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=523404

From Grass Roots NC:

No, it isn't perfect, but it is pretty good. This bill will get us badly needed restaurant carry, clean-up state-wide uniformity on parks carry to eliminate abuse by anti-gun municipalities, and will allow employees with permits to keep handguns locked in cars while working at higher education facilities.

Yes, we want more, such as storage at work for everyone, but this represents progress in the direction of freedom.

It's worth mentioning that your neighbors directly to the north in Virginia have had restaurant carry for a few years now. Just like in our state, qualifying for a CCW permit in NC indicates a person has already demonstrated a certain level of civil responsibility. The idea that those same responsible individuals will attempt to turn an Applebees parking lot into the OK Corral is a favorite claim of the anti's... so far, nothing could be further from the truth in states that allow restaurant or bar carry.

Washington allows restaurant carry, but not bar carry- and not in any part of a combined establishment that prohibits those under 21. I'd much prefer a zero-alcohol law, which strangely we don't have.

Hopefully, our elected officials will see it that way as well and vote accordingly.
