Fobus passive retention works too well?

I recently picked up a Fobus paddle holster for my Taurus snub. Comfortable, easy to put on and take off. Just one problem, the gun won't draw from the holster. It is locked in tight. The instructions say to "draw decisively in an upward motion". I've tried fast, slow, straight up, forward, etc. 4/5 times, the gun will not come out. This is the basic model, so there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust tension. Does it just need a "break-in" period or is there some trick to it that I'm missing?
