I have the RIA 9mm GI. Hate the sites.

I should have bought the Tactical with better changeable sites. She'll be for sale, I'm getting out of the 1911 business.

Also they scratch easy. To easy.

Why are you 'getting out of the business' so to speak?

I have a DW PM9 that has been flawless. over 1k thru it now. everything from WWB to some hot +Ps. Couldn't ask for a nicer gun.

Well I think I'm going to order a RIA tactical in 9mm. My .45 rock island has been flawless so I guess I was trying to fix something that wasn't broken so to speak.

I've shot a lot of 1911, some really high end ones. I do shoot them well, but I like my CZ75B 9mm much more. I really have no use for it. I'm just not a 1911 type of guy.

Never shot one but Taurus. Smith and Wesson too.

Glad to see you've made a choice Fireman. Definitely get the tactical version, mine has been great.

Good choice on the Rock. Im hoping they bring out the double stack 9mm with full length rail next year. My 2011 tactical has been flawless so now I want a matching 9mm

Do you compete with your Kimber? How many rounds a month do you shoot with it?
I do compete with my Kimber. Unfortunatly im not that much competition but thats not do to the gun its due to the person pulling the trigger. I bought the gun back in May and so far I have about 5k through it. Smooth as butter and no issues after the first 300 or so rds. Its more accurate than I am.

Don't forget STI also makes a variety of 1911 style double column magazine pistols, including 9mm. They are not cheap but definitely competition level pistols.

I'm glad to hear that many people have had good lick with a 9mm 1911, because I might give it another try.

I tried two 1911 in 9mm, both were double stack, and had bad results. I think the answer may be single stack.

I had a Para SPX 18.9, a beautiful gun, well made, a pleasure to shoot until it started to fail to extract. And it got worse instead of better as I shot it more. I tried cleaning it and oiling it and it didn't get better. I should have send it back to the mfg but I just I just sold it for a small loss. Now I regret not trying harder to make it work.

I also tried a Rock Island 1911A2, also a 9mm doulble stack. That one didn't work much better. It was a OK gun, but the finish is very easy, too easy, to scuff/scratch and I traded that away for a Sig P226.

It may be that a double stack problem. I'll open another thread on this subject.

What about the Sringfield EMP 9? I'm a fan of the 9mm and would love to have a 9mm 1911 and the EMP is on my list.

The Springfield EMP looks like a very nice gun, but I'm into longer barrels the longer the better. I've recently bought the Springfield Long Slide (6") in .45 and love everything about that gun but the allen wrench guide rod that Springfield seems to favor.
