Determining OAL
Someone told me about a way you can figure the optimum OAL for your pistol by using a black marker and dropping a round into the barrell and pushing it down until it touchs the lands and groove..........and then I didn't catch the rest of it. Anyone used this method? If so could you expound on it?

You can only seat pistol rounds out so long before they stop fitting in he magazine or reliably feeding in the weapon. There are some pistols that will allow you to get long enough to get into the lands, but more often magazine length is as long as you're going to get.
