I'd say they're original but looks can be deceiving.

Same as other post, what's the story?
Can't tell from pics if they are original. The leather pouch looks like it has the neck tied with artificial sinew. |

I'm confident they are originals. Can anyone ID them?

From time to time, I have traded in these and I'd say that these are originals. Most of the shots flask that I have seen, don't look like this one, the powder flask on the other hand, do. Most that I see in this country, are Britich and any markings, are clearly English. A few are Frech or Dutch. I had one that came from South America and I feel it is Spanish. You don't see many but there are quite a few out there. Back in the early 80's, I knew a serious collector and today, there are quite a few around. These guys strickly collect flasks.
There are also books on flasks in the library and you will find lots of them on the internet. Look for markings around the necks, base seems and any metal spots present. You have some fine flasks. Some of my favorites are the smaller Colt pistol flasks. The powder flask, you are showing looks to be home made and the artwork is really neat. Look at that patina !! Also see if you can tell what the seems are soldered with. Be Safe !!! |
