Another Remington 870 Problem

I am a new member to this site, so I do not know if this was asked in a previous thread, but here it goes...

I own a Remington 870 that I am in the process of switching out the stock and forend. Now the problem I am having is putting the fore end nut back on after putting on the new forend...can't seem to get that bugger to line up the threads..and damn fine threads they are...any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

Are you sure there's enough threads showing after you put your new forend on to start the nut?

Check for:

Stripped or damaged threads on the action bar tube? These are fine and the tube is thin.

Stripped or damaged threads on the nut?

Tube slightly bent egg-shaped?

Do you have the nut on the right way around? The notches face forward.

Same issue with Remington 870 Express forend nut

I tried for hours last night to get the forend nut to thread back on to the tube assembly but it would not. The threads are fine on both ends, and notch is facing forward Thanks for any help. I might take it to a smith tomorrow so if I get an answer I'll post it.
