Please vote for my daughter's hunting photo.
My daughter is a finalist in a photo contest at www.SWFA.com . Please vote with all the email addresses you have and please get everyone you know to vote as well. Her photo is of the Red Deer doe she shot on 12/31/2013 with my 6.8 SPC carbine.
She has really come to enjoy hunting and 3 Gun Competition shooting (along with her little sister). It is so satisfying to raise my daughters in the gun community and see them be want to shoot any chance they get. Thanks so much. View Photo Vote For Photo

You got my vote. Its good to see another shooter from the thriving megopolis of Burleson Tx.
I just went with a 15 year old girl on a youth hunt from Joshua. She didn't get a deer on the first hunt but killed 3 deer on the second hunt. She used my rem 7/08 model seven with reduced 120gr loads. They killed the snot out of the deer. Its always good to see the kids get into the hunting scene. Thats a nice picture. I forgot to ask, where did she shoot a Red Deer at? Was it an exoctic ranch hunt? Last edited by ThomasT; February 7, 2014 at 09:22 PM. |

ratshooter, Was that hunt with the JHS FFA Ag Class? I know the teacher and a couple of years ago I totally polluted a Swiss and a Swedish exchange students by introducing them to shooting and hunting. The Swiss girl actually shot two doe when I took her on one of these youth hunts.
Unfortunately, the host company that sponsors and insures them will no longer allow them to shoot, hunt, ride horses, ride ATVs or any other fun thing that personifies life in Johnson County Texas.

ratshooter,
The red deer was harvested in Wise County. My youngest daughter harvested a Red Deer Stag last year as well. These were released from a high fence ranch and have been running loose for some time.

Yep it sure was. I won't post the teachers name but his initials are B.N. A heck of a nice guy too.
I was very pleased to be ask by this 15 year old girl to go on the hunt. I am very good friends with the family and distantly related. She just stole my heart. I have two sons and always wanted a daughter. She is my adopted daughter. I had a blast hunting with all the kids. It was so good to see young people do something besides spend their time on their cell phones. The only down side was she told everyone I was her grandfather. I am only 56 and way too young to be a grandpa. |

ratshooter,
Yup B.N. is the fella. Were you at the hunt down by Stephenville where they were cooking in the big rock party barn and the fish and wildlife fella was talking about the whitetail deer while they were field dressing it? I brought some exchange students to that even though they couldn't hunt.

Yes I was. That was a neat pavillion. Its was cold. I helped make the breakfast on sunday morning while the regular cook was looking for a lost deer with his tracking dog.
Are you in this photo? Well I can't seem to get the picture to load. I will keep trying. |

ratshooter,
I cannot remember if I went to that one or not. I am a tall bald fella with a handlebar mustache. People usually remember me. That is a cool piece of property though.

mchgnmike We were there the week before regular deer season opened. I don't remeber a handlebar stash and since we had those orange hats the whole time so I didn't see anyone with a peeled head.
I am going to show Tabitha your daughters picture and see if she knows her. We are going to her house this afternoon to eat some of the deer meat. She shot her deer on a ranch north of Early and south of Rising Star. Its a huge ranch that has been in their family since the civil war. |

ratshooter,
Tabitha will probably not know my girls because they do not go to JHS. The exchange students my in-laws are hosting go to JHS and their names are Emma and Janine. I am sure she knows them. Please ask your friends to vote as well. Thanks everyone.
