Ground Squirrels and Priaire Dogs

Have gun - will travel. Live in NW Wash (Bellingham) and looking for areas to shoot priaire dogs or ground squirrels in Montana.
With fuel prices being what they are, the closer the better.
Great Falls, Lewistown, but Jordan may be a stretch for buget.
Any useful suggestions would be appreciated.

Dunno about Montana, but Western Idaho has lots of Columbia Ground Squirrels (we call 'em "Whistle Pigs") on public land. And the season is starting to get good, now. PM if you want details.

SD is over run with p dogs, most ranchers dont have a problem with giving you access, as long as you ask nice. Pick a rural small town and call the local cafe or tractor supply place, say that you are planning on driving through the area and woudl like to shoot some p dogs on your way, and if they could let you know of any farmer who might let you on their property. THen when you show up, have a bottle of booze to give the Farmer as a thank you present.
