New B&C Tactical Stock
hey guys, just wanted to show off my .308 with the new Bell and Carlson Tactical A2 Style Medalist with vertical grip. the color is olive with black webbing. took off the rail, and put it on my shotgun. i really like the deresonator, so i kept it on there.

Looks pretty good in that tactical way. How much did a project like that cost? Also, does the barrel deresonator actually work? I have seen them for sale, but I have never bought one. One more thing, what model Remington is that? Is the SPS Tactical or a 700P? Have fun shooting.

im not too sure about how much it cost, but at last count i had around $1300 into it, and i just bought a $230 stock...so im gonna have to tally it up here soon and list specs...anyways, im not sure if the barrel deresonator would be as effective as it would be on a sporter rifle, as my rifle wieghs something like 15 lbs...or at least it seems that way. the deresonator helps reduce vibrations and muzzle rise, but i dont have much muzzle rise. it being made out of rubber leads me to believe that it does reduce the vibrations...thats just my logic though. Its the SPS Tactical.

why did you buy the SPS tactical with the Hogue stock when you could have just bought the varmint version and saved yourself a nickel or two?

mniesen89- i had the varmint version too. the varmint stock is about twice as worse as the hogue. no bedding at all in it, vs the hogues pillar bedding. the recoil pad didnt fit flush with the stock and the stock made contact with the barrel too. i traded in my sps varmint to get my mossberg 500 setup. the only reason i sold my varmint however, was because i never really shot it because i like my tactical alot better. also, a little bit because i couldnt afford a new stock for it. do your stock homework lol
predator86- this particular rifle has a 20" barrel. some people think its the best barrel length to be used with .308. i also like it because its compact. http://www.snipercentral.com/spstactical.htm ^^^SPS Tactical Review http://www.snipercentral.com/remspsv.htm ^^^SPS Varmint Review.....mniesen89, read up on your stocks :P

Its a nice rig..there is nothing wrong with using a dersonator if it helps on a particular rifle. Now the tac rail....that has absolutely no business on the barrel of any rifle, especialy a precision rifle. Anything that directly touches the barrel changes its point of impact either a little or alot. just like those bipods that attach directly to the barrel like the old AR15 "clothes pin" type- changes the point of impact approx 11 inches at 100 yds when used.
On a precision rifle the whole point is to not have anything disturb/touch the barrel or change from shot to shot, as much as humanly possible..hense free floating and pillar bedding. So yeah, that rail looks as out of place on that rifle as training wheels on a Harley.

If you still need picitinny rails, I would drill and mount them on the side of the forearm of the stock....short lenths of picitenny are availible on the market.
you can still have your place for a light or laser or camera.

Just teasing. That is a REALLY long scope though. What is it? Also, while I'm not a fan of the color, it is a nice stock. I hear a lot of good things about the Bell and Carlson stocks, and am really considering getting one for my Win model 70 if I can develop, or find, a load that does really well in it (other than "coolness", there wouldnt be much point if it is only hunting accurate, which so far with my limited testing, and not fancy scope, is about what I''m getting, but I think it can do a fair bit better.) How is the weight generally on thier stocks?

haha, its 21.5" long i believe
its a leapers 4-16x56 with 4" sunshade, butler creek scope covers, and 3 leapers tactical rings. tube is 30mm. i have another one that went on my SPS varmint, and its a leapers 8-24x50 ill. , and its about the same length lol.... i wanted it in black, but they sold out of black the day before i ordered it =[. id recommend getting one, i really like mine. i absolutely love the palm swell. i dont think the stock is all that heavy. of course im used to it with lugging that beast around all the time...its bigger than it looks lol

Branham, makes sense about the stock.
P99GUY- I have the same rifle with a tac rail on it also and have yet to have any ill effects as far as accuracy goes. This rifle truely is a tac driver, for roughly 600$ you can't beat it. The only down side is this rifle sure is heavy, but it being as solid as it is you can't beat it. |
